An alternative to detectors

In special cases (like outdoor areas), video-based fire detection can be useful as a replacement for traditional technologies (like fire detectors) which are impossible to install there.

In industrial buildings with very high ceilings (such as factories and logistics depots), a video camera can detect an outbreak of fire more quickly, from farther away, than a classic detector, helping to prevent its spread.

Heat detection

In high heat areas (waste treatment centres, etc.), thermal imaging cameras can detect and locate the source before a fire really takes off.

Multiple roles

In addition to visual incident confirmation and video verifications, video surveillance can be used to monitor an incident’s progression so the necessary measures can be taken and appropriate instructions issued. Image recordings provide a history of the event and its development so the cause can be determined.
